Job Summary: As a Field Apprentice 2, you will work closely with experienced tradesmen to further develop their skills and knowledge in the construction industry. Building upon the foundation established as a Field Apprentice 1, you will actively participate in construction, renovation, and repair projects, contributing to the successful completion of projects while expanding your expertise. This position is ideal for individuals who have completed their initial training and are eager to advance their career in construction.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Assist in interpreting and implementing construction schedule, plans, and specifications.
- Utilize a wide range of hand and power tools to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Execute various carpentry techniques, including measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling materials.
- Assist in the installation of structures and fixtures, such as windows, doors, cabinets, and molding.
- Help with the preparation of construction sites, including clearing debris, organizing tools and materials, and setting up scaffolding.
- Apply advanced skills and techniques for framing and finishing carpentry.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to company and industry safety guidelines.
- Follow instructions from experienced tradesmen and ask questions to clarify tasks and gain knowledge.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects.
- Continuously expand skills and knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices by actively participating in training programs and on the job experience.
- Uphold high standards of professionalism, work ethic, and integrity while representing the company.
- Assist in training and mentoring Field Apprentice 1 participates, providing guidance and support.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience
Education/Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Completion of Field Apprentice 1 program or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in carpentry or related field is preferred but not required.
- Proficient knowledge of carpentry tools, equipment, and techniques.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and adapt to changing work environments.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in executing tasks.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and follow established procedures.
- Professional attitude and appearance.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to safety regulations.
- Must be able to withstand noise, fumes, airborne particles, etc. associated with construction sites.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
